When you buy a new helmet for an outdoor activity, how do you know that it is safe and thoroughly tested? You can look at the design and make sure it fits well, but will it adequately protect your head in case of an accident? The fit is important, but you also need to make sure that it is certified. DOT Certified Helmets: DOT stands for “department of transportation” and when you find a helmet that has been DOT certified, it means that they have been thoroughly inspected for safety. The smallest, lightest DOT helmet may very well be a bike helmet or a motorcycle helmet. Just make sure that read the labels on all of the smallest DOT helmets so that you know for certain that they are approved for safety. The only way you will know for certain if the smallest DOT helmet is really certified is to read the label. DOT Certified Motorcycle Helmets: Motorcycles: When riding a motorcycle, there are several things you should do to make sure that you remain safe at all times. One thing you can do is to wear DOT motorcycle helmets. There are many bikers choice DOT approved helmets. You can choose from ultralight DOT helmets and DOT approved carbon filter helmets. You can even get them in your choice of colors such as a pink or blue DOT helmet. Whatever you do, when you are on the open road, make sure you stay as safe as you possibly can be wearing DOT certified helmets each and every time you ride.
